COMLink is a utility program that links a wide variety of electronic laboratory instruments to commercially available scientific and business software packages. Using the COMLink interface, electronic instruments such as calipers, balances, and micrometers can generate their data directly into "off-the-shelf" software packages such as Access, dBASE, FoxPro, Paradox, Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, Systat, and many others. Because readings are entered as if they were typed from the keyboard, there is no need to change your existing data entry procedures--other than to eliminate the tedious and error-prone transcription. Gathering data is as simple as 1-2-3: place the cursor in a field, take a measurement, and press the instruments "firing" button.
COMLink is compatible with a variety of electronic measuring and weighing instruments which are equipped with an RS-232C compatible output. COMLink comes pre-configured for calipers from Brown and Sharpe, Fowler, and MTI-Mitutoyo. Configurations are also included for balances from Fisher Scientific, MTI-Mitutoyo, Ohaus, and Sargent-Welch. Other configurations can be easily created by you.
